Tony Award® winner Leslie Odom, Jr. stars in Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch, the rousing, laugh-filled comedy by Kennedy Center honoree, Ossie Davis, that tells the story of a Black preacher’s machinations to reclaim his inheritance and win back his church.

Crafting Community-Centered Conversations

National Black Theatre hosted Victorious Talkbacks, discussions taking place after the show. These get-togethers are exciting ways to boost ticket sales.

Talkbacks invite a variety of culture-making guests to provide insight into Purlie Victorious’ themes. They’re an opportunity for the audience to share their thoughts, ask questions, and engage in a communal dialogue around art.

These discussions help center artists, and encourage a more profound understanding of the play and its relevance to broader societal conversations.
